Green Jay

27 cm (10-11") Rare and local. Southern Texas. Tropical bird with range that extends to southern tip of Texas. Streamside bushy areas along Rio Grande.

Unmistakable. Blue and black head. Green body. Golden outer tail feathers.

Comes to feeders in winter.

Song: raspy "cheh-cheh-cheh".
