Red-billed Pigeon

38 cm (15") Southern Texas; lower Rio Grande River. Woodlands.

Resembles an all dark Rock Dove with no white rump and a red bill.

Seldom goes to the ground except to drink. Forages for seeds, nuts, figs in tall trees.

Song: long, high pitched coo.
