13 cm (5") Fairly common but often overlooked. Deciduous, mixed woods, swampy forests.
Gently curved bill. Well camouflaged by streaked brown on upperparts.
Spirals up trees from the base to branches, digging insects and larvae from the bark, then flies to the base of another tree.
Song: high faint "see-ti-wee-tu-wee", faint "see" call.
