Common Ground-Dove

18 cm (7") Common. Southern United States. Brush and farmlands.

Plump bird with a scaled head and breast.

Male: has a gray crown and pinkish gray underparts.

Female: is more gray overall than male.

In flight; wings flash bright chestnut.

Song: series of low soft ascending whistles "wih-up".
