Lesser Prairie-Chicken

41 cm (16") Rare. Short grass prairies.

Similar to larger Greater Prairie-chicken but has finer barring below and males have a different color neck sack.

Spectacular courtship display given by males in which they inflate purplish red neck sacks and make "booming" sounds to attract females.
