Pacific Golden-Plover

Pluvialis fulva

Also known as: Lesser Golden-Plover

23-28 cm (9-11") Uncommon. Northwest Alaska; most migrate to southeast Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, some winter in Pacific States.

Summer: speckled, golden-brown upperparts; black face; completely black underside including undertail coverts; white stripe extends across forehead down side to tail.

Winter: similar but with a gray-brown underside.

In flight: dark rump and tail, no wing bar and gray armpits.

Was called Lesser Golden-Plover.

Song: 2-3 note whistle. "chu-leet".
