33 cm (13") Common and widespread across the continent including farmyards and city parks.
The introduced domestic pigeon of city streets is highly variable in plumage. The wilder, more ancestral form, has a dark head and neck, grayish back with a white rump and a dark terminal tail band.
In flight; wing tips collide on take-off. Glides with wings raised at an angle.
Song: soft cooing "co-roo-coo".
