Rose-throated Becard

Pachyramphus aglaiae

18 cm (7") Rare. Southeastern Arizona, Texas; lower Rio Grande. Wooded canyons, river groves, cottonwoods, sycamores.

Large head. Thick bill.

Male: dark gray back, black cap. White beneath except for a brilliant red throat.

Female: brown back, darker cap. Buffy collar and underparts.

Produce large bulky nests.

Song: thin whistled "seeoo".
