Gunnison Grouse
Also known as: Sagehen, Sage Grouse, Sage Cock, Sage Chicken, Cock of the Plains
71 cm (28") Common. Sagebrush in western North America.
Large size, black belly and long pointed tail are unmistakable.
Males: have black throats and puff out their white chest in communal courtship display to show two yellow sacks. Long tail is erected and fanned during this display.
