Also known as: Steller's Albatross

91 cm (36") Wings 211 cm (83") Open Pacific Ocean. Nearly extinct. At one time (1956) there were only 28 birds breeding on Toroshima Island off Japan, now about 300 birds exist. Large size, white back, massive pink bill and flesh colored feet are distinctive. Adult is mostly white with yellowish gold on head.
