Also known as: Blue Goose
63-76 cm (25-30") Common. Tundra in summer; winters in marshes, grain fields, ponds, bays. Two distinct color phases.
White-phase is white with pink bill with black "lips"; black wing tips are prominent in flight; pink feet.
Dark-phase called "Blue Goose" has white head and upper neck, pink bill, dark gray body and wings. Smaller Ross' Goose has a shorter neck and more rounded head. Flocks may number in thousands.
Song: loud nasal "whouk" in chorus.
