31 cm (12") Rare. Southern Texas, lower Rio Grande Valley. Ground feeds in brush or wooded areas.

Large plump bird. Whitish forehead and throat. Dark back.

In flight; shows white tips of fanned tail

Was called White-fronted Dove.

Song: call is like foghorn noise made by blowing over an open bottle.
