20 cm (8") Common in east. Moist deciduous forests; well planted residential areas.
Bright reddish brown head; unmarked brown back, wings and tail. Numerous bold dark spots on white underparts. Similar Brown Thrasher has a long tail, breast streaks, and light eyes. Brighter headed and more plump than other brown thrushes.
Song: series of loud flute-like "ee-o-lay" phrases and gutteral trills; rapid "pip pip pip pip" call.
