Worm-eating Warbler

Helmitheros vermivorus

13 cm (5") Uncommon. Eastern United States; strays to southern Ontario. Inhabits deciduous woodland hillsides, undergrowth, shady ravines etc.

Dark stripes across top of buffy head. Brownish-olive upperparts. Buffy-orange underparts. Long spike-like bill.

Song: similar to Chipping Sparrow's but more rapid and insect-like.
