Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus

22 cm (8-9") Common. Southwestern United States. State bird for Arizona. Desert brushland, mesquite, cactus, yucca.

Largest wren. Dark brown cap. Eyebrow stripe. Dark eye. Brown back streaked with white. Wings and white-edged tail is barred. Breast is densely spotted. Similar Sage Thrasher has light eyes, unstreaked back, unbarred tail and wings.

Song: a voice in the desert, long unmusical rapid "cha cha cha cha ".
