13 cm (5") Common, especially in northern forest understory near water.
Blue-gray upperparts. Bold white spectacles. Yellow throat. Yellow belly.
Male: black necklace on bright yellow breast. White undertail coverts.
Female and Immature: dusky indistinct necklace on yellow breast. White undertail coverts.
Forages low to ground in undergrowth or on lower branches but may also be seen fly-catching.
Song: rapid and varied warble starting with a low chip.
