24 cm (9") Fairly common. Southern Texas; lower Rio Grande Valley. Groves near water.

Nearly identical to Tropical Kingbird. Gray head, white throat, dark ear patch. Back is olive gray. Belly is bright yellow. Plain dark tail is slightly notched.

Song: shrill "breeeer" and a "kip".
