21 cm (8") Rare. Alaska, west coast.

An overall dark plover. A broad white eyebrow stripe is distinctive.

Breeding: a narrow white stripe crosses the breast. The lower breast and belly is blackish or rusty orange.

Song: piping "titi-ri-titi-ri" repeated to a trill.
