15-20 cm (6-8") Common but shy. Damp deciduous forests.
Uniform warm or cinnamon brown above; whitish below with buff on upper breast. No distinct eye ring. Breast spotting is less distinct and more limited than on other thrushes.
Usually stays near forest floor.
More often heard than seen, especially at dusk.
Song: loud beautiful and haunting flute-like notes spiral downward "vee-ur, veer, veer"; soft whistled "whew" call.
