Catharus Genus

Thrushes are small to medium size birds with large eyes, slender bills, and strong legs. All their young have spotted breasts. All, except the bluebirds and Townsend's Solitaire, are often seen standing or running on the ground. Most thrushes have fine songs. Bluebirds nest in tree cavities or bird boxes. Other thrushes build their nests in crotches of tree limbs or shrubs. Songs of  the spot-breasted woodland thrushes are favorites to those who visit wilderness areas.

These thrushes are mainly forest birds with large eyes, straight slim bills and fluty voices.

Catharus contains the small, mostly insectivorous or omnivorous thrushes.
