29 cm (11-12") Fairly common but restricted to southern Texas. Woodland edges, chaparral.
Gray head. Orange eye. Reddish-brown back and tail. Heavily streaked below. Similar Brown Thrasher has a reddish-brown head, shorter, less curved bill and yellow eye.
Song: varied melodies and repeated phrases.
