56 cm ( 22") Common in coastal marshes of Florida and Gulf Coast states. A pale version of the American Black Duck. Told from female Mallard by its all yellow bill and no white in its tail. Told from similar Mexican Mallard by a distinct black spot at the gape, where the bill joins the face.
