13 cm (5") Fairly common. Western United States, southwestern British Columbia. Moist woodlands especially oak.
Olive-brown above. Light below. Two large white wing bars. Resembles a Ruby-crowned Kinglet but is slightly larger with a thicker bill and has an incomplete eye ring broken by a dark spot over the eye. Also it does not flick its wings.
Song: rising and falling "ch-weet ch-weet" repeated.
