12 cm (5") Fairly common. Southwestern United States. Brushlands, pinyon-juniper woods - usually at elevations between 1800-2700 meters (6000-9000 ft.).
Male: gray head and back. Yellowish-green rump. White throat. Yellow wash on breast. Yellow undertail coverts. Bold white eye ring.
Female: duller.
Flicks tail.
Nests on ground.
Song: rapid thin notes "chlip-chlip-chlip-chlip-chlip".
