22 cm (9") Rare. Eurasian bird. May turn up throughout North America.
Long downcurved bill.
Breeding: rich brick red on back and underneath suggesting a Red Knot.
Fall, winter: looks like a fall Dunlin but white rump is conspicuous in flight.
Song: soft "chirrup"
