14 cm (5-6") Rare and endangered. Central Texas (Edward's Plateau). Juniper, oak.
Male: black back. Black crown. Yellow face with a black line through eye. Black chin, throat and upper breast. White belly. Heavily black streaked sides. Similar Black-throated Green Warbler has a green or olive back and may have yellowish on the underside.
Female and Immature: upperparts olive with black streaks. Yellow face with a dark line through eye. Chin is white or yellow. Side of throat is streaked. White belly.
Song: "bzzz layzee dayzee" ending on a high note.
