15 cm (6") Endangered. Extremely rare and local. Thickets of young jack pines. Found to nest only in north central Michigan.
Blue-gray upperparts. Streaked back. Yellow underparts. Streaked sides. Broken white eye ring.
Tail wagging habit.
Song: loud and lively; series of low sharp notes then slurred whistles.
