Bird's high metabolic rates requires they spend much of their time feeding. Birds are often most active and thus seen most often engaged in various feeding activities. Many birds have developed distinctive or characteristic ways to search for food. Knowledge of these specific feeding behaviors is of help in identifying many species. Knowing size, habitat and how a bird acts in its efforts to obtain food may be sufficient to make an accurate identification. But also noting any other unique behaviour will be of help in your IDs.
